Payment options and fees
From 13 January 2018, shared charging is the only option available for payments within the European Union or European Economic Area, whatever currency the payment is in.
You can send euros in Online Banking, the Barclays Mobile Banking (you’ll still pay the overseas delivery charge if using the app), or by visiting a branch.
If you have a personal or Premier account, there’s no fee for making international payments in Online Banking and Barclays Mobile Banking. You’ll still need to pay the overseas delivery charge when using the app.
There’s a fee of ￡5 for SEPA payments and ￡15 for making a payment in Online Banking if you have a Business or Wealth Management account. You’ll still need to pay the overseas delivery charge when using the app.
If the international payment is made at a branch or by telephone, the fee is ￡15 for SEPA and ￡25-￡40 for other international payments, regardless of the type of account you have.
Some countries (outside the European Union or European Economic Area) allow the bank receiving the payment to charge a fee. This fee will be paid by the person who receives the payment – it’ll be deducted from the amount that reaches them.
You can find more details about cut-off times and timescales for international payments in the A–Z country list. Where the list specifies no fee for making a payment to a country, that only applies if you have a personal or Premier account.
If you have a Barclays Premier account, Business account or Wealth account you can also call us to make a payment.
